An integral division of the Bombay Electricals Project & Supplies India Pvt. Ltd Group, founded in 1961 by brothers Atmaram Chhabria and Amar Chhabria, BEPS is amongst the pioneers of light manufacturers in the country. A decorative lights manufacturing company launched as an entrepreneurial venture by five brothers has successfully evolved to become an influential ‘solution provider’ in the industry. BEPS is today known a as one-stop-shop to address all lighting requirements and services various prestigious clients across hospitality, real estate, commercial spaces, corporate offices, heritage sites and others. Equipped with latest technology and sharp market acumen, our 70 members team, comprising of technical experts and designers liaise with various architects, interior designers, consultants and developers to address specific needs of over 100 projects annually.
Catering to premium market segment, BEPS is known to provide clients the opportunity to customize the standard product line of various types of indoor and outdoor architectural fixtures, decorative, LED, electro luminescent, underwater, fiber optics and cold cathodes lights with innovative finishes and coatings. On special requests or to meet specific project needs, the company also imports fixtures from Spain, Italy, Germany, USA, China and Far East.
In addition to providing custom solutions, our services include execution, installation and restoration of projects, and prompt after sales service. BEPS is also a trusted distributor of various local and affordable light brands.
The company’s board is helmed by founder and Chairman, Mr. Atmaram Chhabria, an industry veteran with over five decades of experience in manufacturing, along with Joint Managing Directors, Mr. Narendra Chhabria and Mr. Vijay Chhabria, the second-generation executives, each having worked for over 15 years, respectively. The company presently has a team strength of over 50 associates across its offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Pune to assist with Pan India sales and service.
Founders – Atmaram Chhabria and Amar Chhabria
Born in Shikarpur in Sindh, Atmaram Chhabria envisioned becoming an entrepreneur at the young age of 19 and along with this brother, Amar Chhabria, began their first entrepreneurial venture by assembling light switches from the living room at home in Mumbai. Soon after, with a capital of INR 1000 the brothers decided to take the leap and delve directly into the manufacturing and distribution of lights in 1959! And after two years of rigour and toil across the length and breadth of India, and learning and unlearning of trade nuances, in 1961, they established their first company, the Bombay Electrics Project and Supply or the BEPS group.
Beginning with Pan India operations and this lights manufacturing and distribution company soon began export to the Middle East regions and won their first accolade – an award for best exporter - from none other than the Government of India! The brothers nurtured their idea and enabled their vision to establish a path of growth and soon began overseeing over 70 factory units across India. 1971 onwards, the BEPS group was among the first home grown company to execute hospitality projects for industry leaders such as the Taj Group, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, The Leela Group of Hotels and others. The group opened its first showroom in South Mumbai that catered to furnishing of luxury residences, and attended to a client list that included reputed Indian business families such as the Ruias, Ambanis, Mittals and Tatas. Known for its repertoire of services, including restoration and renovation of hotels, with the advent of architectural lighting in the 1990s, the group extended its portfolio by including decorative and architectural lighting which today is known as BEPS Tech and BEPS Deco.
Presently BEPS Group is among the most sought after for manufacturing and distribution of lights, architectural lighting, indoor and outdoor lighting, façade lighting, 3D projection mapping and production of lighting controls. Someone rightly said, everything begins with an idea!
Directors – Vijay Atmaram Chhabria & Narendra Amar Chhabria
Taking further their family legacy, today the BEPS group is helmed by Vijay Chhabria (son of Atmaram Chhabria) and Narendra Chhabria, (son of Amar Chhabria) who jointly oversee the Management of the Business in capacity of Managing Directors.
Older among the two, and equipped with an executive MBA from Indian Institutes of Management, Ahmedabad, Narendra joined the family business in 1992. Complementing his extroverted and affable personality, he is entrusted with the responsibility to oversee Sales & Business Development and spearhead Customer Relationship Management in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Fondly known as Anil among his confidants and business contemporaries, Narendra is known for his service oriented approach and one can be rest assured that he will resolve any argument and ensure that both parties conclude with an affirmative handshake!
Vijay handles Operations, Revenue & Sales in Mumbai and Delhi for the group and always eager to learn and implement new trends and innovation. Joining the group on completion of his MBA from Sydenham College, Mumbai in 1997, he today oversees the group’s operations in Delhi, Ahmedabad. A little known fact is that Vijay is a Mathematics wizard and often moonlights as the financial reviewer for the group.
Being the prodigies of visionaries and meticulously executing their respective roles, Narendra and Vijay diligently lead the Board of Directors to create new milestones for the company.
